Fireplaces are beautiful, charming and provide warmth, yet many people do not consider placing one in their bedroom. Living rooms and dining rooms become a priority but having the right temperature in your bedroom is incredibly important because this is the room in which you sleep and a fireplace will allow you to do so comfortably. The addition of a fireplace will also improve the appearance of your room and you’ll be looking forward to the end of the day when you can unwind and relax in front of your new fireplace in the comfort of your bedroom.

There are so many styles to choose from, so you’ll have no trouble finding a fireplace suitable for your bedroom. Open concept fireplaces are very popular and unique because they serve as a division between the bedroom and closet or bathroom, for example, but will somehow tie them together at the same time. An open concept fireplace will enhance a bedroom and add sophistication to it, both of which you will really enjoy. Whether you’re getting ready in the morning or relaxing in bed at night, your new fireplace will make you feel calm and help you get a good night’s sleep.

Fireplaces are both relaxing and romantic and will really change the setting of a bedroom. It will instantly transform it from ordinary to spectacular and is something you can enjoy both day and night. Even a simple fireplace will elevate a bedroom’s décor, which is a wonderful bonus to the warmth factor. You will finally be able to have additional warmth so that you’re nice and cozy and even if you don’t turn it on or use it daily, it will serve as a stunning decoration piece that you’ll enjoy forever.

Having an electric unit installed is perfect if you’re looking for temperature control because this will allow you to adjust it to your preferred setting in a specific area as opposed to raising the thermostat in the entire house, which is far more costly. Electric units allow you to warm up your bedroom before going to bed or warm the room for a little while as you wake up so that you can get ready comfortably before leaving for work. Electric fireplaces are definitely worth considering because they are highly efficient and cost-effective.

If you’re looking for more of a statement piece, select a fireplace with a stunning appearance and this will change your entire bedroom. The right aesthetics on a fireplace will upgrade the room, provide a sense of calm and create ambiance so that you’ll never want to leave your bedroom.

The Builders Club in Surrey will help you create an environment you’ll love. An electric fireplace will make a world of difference in your bedroom and will transform it into space where you’ll want to spend all of your time. Laminate flooring is made of manufactured hardwood and designed to look just like real wood. If you’re not sure whether or not this type of flooring is right for you, here are six reasons to help you see why laminate flooring is ideal for your home:

  1. Cost. Hardwood floors can cost a fortune but luckily, laminate floors are a lot more affordable and provide the same look as hardwood or marble. This means you can get the look you desire for a lot less. High price tags tend to turn homeowners away but laminate planks come in a variety of styles and colours to provide homeowners with the feel of hardwood at prices that are accessible. With laminate floors, you don’t have to break the bank to get what you want.
  2. Versatility. Laminate can be installed in any room of a home, whether it’s the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom or living room. The same cannot be said of hardwood because it cannot handle moisture, making it unsuitable for certain spaces. High-quality laminates are available and because they are moisture resistant, you are not limited in terms of where they can be installed.
  3. Durability. This is a very important aspect because you want flooring that can withstand the chaos of a home, especially in high traffic areas. You don’t want to worry about damage and replacements, and laminate flooring is built to last. High-quality laminate is meant to last 15-20 years so you can enjoy your home without constantly having to worry.
  4. Low maintenance. Laminate floors are very easy to clean, meaning it’s headache free. You can sweep, vacuum and wipe easily and you don’t have to do it every day, only when you feel the need to. Special cleaning products, equipment or techniques are not required and taking care of your floors will be very easy.
  5. Family-Friendly choice. Laminate floors have the ability to resist mold and bacteria and because these harmful elements cannot build-up and remain on your floors, you will always have a healthy environment that you and your family can enjoy. Allergies are another thing you will not have to worry about, making laminate a safe choice.
  6. Easy to install. The process of installation is not only simple but fast and many homeowners complete the project on their own. It’s important to note that you should not attempt it on your own unless you feel extremely confident because mistakes will waste time, effort and money.

Leaving flooring jobs to professionals is always recommended because it guarantees that the job will be done right. The Builders Club in Surrey can help with all of your flooring needs, including hardwood, so give them a call today!

The process of choosing new hardwood flooring is very exciting although you have to know what to look for in order to select the right type of hardwood for your home specifically. Not every option will be suitable for your lifestyle which is why there are certain factors you must consider during the selection process to ensure you choose the best type of hardwood flooring.

Start by factoring in the location of the room in which the flooring will be installed. This will help you determine the type of subfloor you have so that you know how the flooring will have to be installed. For example, if it is for your basement, the subfloor may be constructed of concrete. Hardwood flooring cannot be placed directly on top of concrete which is why you’ll need engineered flooring instead. If the flooring is for the upper levels of your home, you will be able to consider different options based on the subfloor.

Next, you’ll want to consider the usage of the particular room or area because this too will impact your decision. If the flooring is being placed in a room that is used for entertaining on special occasions, you can choose solid hardwood however if it is for a children’s playroom you will have to select a different type of hardwood that can withstand toy cars rolling on top of it and handle being drawn on. High foot traffic areas in your home will need different flooring than a room that is not used very often.

If matching is important to you, you’ll need a company that can provide you with several different options so that you can find one that matches the rest of your property. This is especially true if the hardwood is going to run into a room that already has existing hardwood because matching will be particularly important so that your flooring does not look odd.

The lighting in the room will play a role as well because if you are having your new flooring installed in a dark space with very little light, you’ll want to choose a lighter wood to make the room feel brighter and more inviting. If you have a room that is white or cream, you can select darker hardwood colours to create a contrast. Personal preference and taste should also be considered because if you really like the look and colour of a particular wood you should, of course, consider it if the room allows for it.

Maintenance is another key component because a busy household will require flooring that is easy to clean whereas a house that does not see a lot of action can select a different type of finish. Remember that choosing hardwood flooring solely based on appearance is wrong and just because it looks nice it does not mean it’s the right choice for you.

A common question regarding electric fireplaces is whether or not they give off heat. Many people think that they do not, which is false.

The truth is that the majority of electric fireplace models have an integrated heater which provides enough heat to remove the chill from a small area and provide the perfect amount of heat. One of the advantages of an electric fireplace is that the flames can be turned on with or without the heater, meaning you will never need to overheat a room in order to enjoy a fire. This means you can use and enjoy your electric fireplace anytime you want, all year round, which is quite different than a gas fireplace that only produces heat when turned on.

Another advantage that electric fireplaces offer is that the heat is not generated by combustion, meaning there is nothing that is burning inside. The flames that you see are just an illusion created by the lights, so there is zero risk of carbon monoxide entering your home. Not having to worry about a carbon monoxide leak is a huge bonus and you won’t require a vent or a chimney on your fireplace. This is quite different when compared to a gas fireplace which burns fossil fuels and can produce carbon monoxide and requires a vent leading to the outside.

As there is no vent leading to the outside, all of the heat that is produced will stay in the room, making electric fireplaces 100% efficient compared to a gas fireplace that loses anywhere from 20-30% of the heat produced because of the vent.

Lastly, electric fireplaces will not only provide you with enough heat, but they are also very safe for kids and pets because the glass portion will never get hot. If a person were to accidentally touch it, they would not experience a burn, so you can enjoy your fireplace without the fear of anyone getting hurt.

Electric fireplaces are perfect for heating the most used rooms in your home and providing you with the perfect level of comfort that you desire. They will not overheat the rest of your home, so you can stay warm without worrying about you and your home being uncomfortably hot. The Builders Club in Surrey can help provide more information on electric fireplaces, as well as hardwood and laminate flooring, so give them a call today!

The Advantages of Engineered Hardwood Flooring https://thebuildersclub.ca/the-advantages-of-engineered-hardwood-flooring/ Wed, 30 Jan 2019 19:36:41 +0000 https://thebuildersclub.ca/?p=958 The post The Advantages of Engineered Hardwood Flooring appeared first on The Builder's Club.

What is Engineered Hardwood Exactly?

Unlike solid, natural hardwood floors that are 100% real wood through and through, engineered wood floors are composed of both solid wood and plywood layers. These floors have a durable plywood core that makes up the majority of the plank, while a thin layer of solid wood sits on top. These engineered hardwood planks can be adjusted in thickness depending on your personal preference, usually ranging from a ¼ inch to three inches.

What Does it Cost?

If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative to installing solid wood floors throughout your home, then engineered hardwood flooring is your best bet. Because of the alternate material within, you’re not paying for as much premium wood as you would with hardwood flooring. All while still having the effect and beauty of hardwood floors throughout. No one will be able to tell the difference, which is exactly what you want.

What About Advantages?

Apart from the lower price and gorgeous outcome, what other advantages lie with installing engineered wood flooring rather than hardwood? Well, you’re not limited to where you can install this type of flooring. Engineered floors can be installed in every level of the home, including the basements thanks to it resistant to moisture, humidity and extreme temperatures. All wood, however, is prone to damage from excessive amounts of water, but engineered hardwood can handle to consequences better than solid wood.

Worried that you might not have many options to choose from? With the ever-growing popularity of engineered hardwood flooring, you’re sure to find exactly what you’re looking for to match your home’s aesthetic. It’s available in a wide range of wood species like walnut, maple and oak, as well as varying colours and styles to match any design and colour scheme. It also comes in a variety of plank widths to better accommodate your style if you’re looking for a more traditional or modern appearance.

There are also multiple ways for engineered hardwood floors to be installed, including stapling or gluing them over existing floors, or lock them together and have them float over your previous floor. As the top layer is of these floors is made of solid wood, they can be sanded down and refinished whenever necessary, whether they’ve been scratched up too much for your liking or you’re ready for something new. However, this can only be done so many times before you hit the plywood core and need to replace the entire plank altogether.

At The Builders Club, we offer an abundance of flooring and wall products that include tiles, engineered hardwood flooring, laminate flooring, gas and electric fireplaces, 3D wall decor, artificial turf and more.
